I love YouTube.
So I pretty much spent the weekend completely obsessed with a woman named SuperLunary on YouTube. Why? Because she’s interesting, that’s all…well, and completely hot and funny too. I found her because a forum I go to was making fun of one of her videos where she filmed herself crying, which wasn’t one of my favourite videos of hers but you have to give the girl credit for being able to do it. Crying on cam is HARD. Not to be confused with acting in front of a camera, I mean crying, as yourself (as opposed to a character) with a camera in your face is hard, putting it out in a public forum is even harder. Trust me, I’ve tried, thinking “hey how come I never see people crying on the internet?” and well, that’s mostly why I think. It’s just hard.
And it’s funny how people react to crying in a public forum, they get mad. Girls on Camwhores have received thousands of minus votes just for such a crime. Weird, huh? People just don’t come to the internet wanting to be brought down, I guess. Mostly they come here to jerk off haha
Watching SuperLunary interact with other YouTubers reminded me of the portal 9 days and then it ocurred to me that SuperLunary probably doesn’t even know what portal 9 was or what Camwhores is and that sorta blows my mind because if it wasn’t for the almighty webcam, there probably wouldn’t even be a YouTube. I feel a little responsible for this, I was supposed to write the book about that. :| I’m still sorta working on it…sorta not. I don’t have a publisher anymore so it’s more like not, these days.
Anyway, that’s all for now, here’s my vlog #5:

People did - vote on camwhore, cause they go there to see girl get naked, not see girls cry!(well nowaday, dunno if it was like that years ago ;p).
They prolly are sad/lonely in their little world already to have to pay for a website to see naked girls(kinda, well I think).(well actually I have no clue about that. Just my guess)
But anyways.. interresting changes you got around your site now. you still have that Category listing to get.. well I’d think out of the main page and have it in a “search” directory kind of thing.
Color scheme is really neat and easy on the eye. I like it :D (Althought the Nav menu looks bugged in it’s graphic.. that line near the middle looks.. weird to me. Seams like it sholdof been degrated.. erhmm anyways you didn’t ask for opinion yet.. so yeah :) )

Sunny - as a YouTube fan and a woman of hypertextual prowess who engages with issues of identify, privacy and community online…I think you’ll like this one (if you haven’t seen it already)

Jaw, the theme’s only temporary.
Dan, I fucking LOVE that video, no I hadn’t seen it yet. That’s some food for thought right there. It’s weird because that’s exactly where my brain’s been over the last little while, but now it has a name and I suppose it’s Web 2.0.
I’ve spent the last few months learning about other people’s internet. Krissy’s internet, for example is very small. She only goes to hotmail/gmail, MySpace, YouTube and now Live Journal. She has no scope beyond those large more or less commercial sites. That’s interesting to me, especially since she’s now vlogging on YouTube pretty regularly and there’s a million Krissies now on the internet, getting their first webcams….and having NO idea what they’re getting themselves into (and they probably wouldn’t believe me if I told them).
Like I said, the YouTube community really reminds me of the old portal 9 days, it’s like history repeating itself with better technology.
Anyway, thanks for showing me that vid, I hadn’t seen it. :)

I saw a SuperLunary video juuuust before her crying video got featured (I think it was one of those random links at the end of someone else’s video). It was part two of how to be a rock chick, haha. She seemed neat. I actually thought of you for a sec because I thought you’d find her interesting and it turns out you did without me even mentioning it!
Yeah… crying on the internet is probably VERY hard. It’s one of those things… people don’t usually like to let others see them cry because it’s a vulnerable state to be in. Showing it on the internet for anyone to see pretty much exposes that. Which blows my mind because most people try to cover that side of them up so they don’t get hurt, etc. I didn’t watch the whole crying video because I wasn’t sure if she was actually exploring that side of herself or doing it for attention or what but it did get me thinking, heh. And I’m sure it got other people thinking too. Which was probably her motive?
Oh man, speaking of Camwhores. I was watching a couple of Emmalina’s newer videos (dunno why she intrigues me, but she does… blah) and she actually mentioned stileproject!! (She was talking about old camgirl days and stuff or something… which is weird because she’s only 18 so how does she know? o_O) Anyway, it was just… weird to me! :P
