DON’T FREAK OUT…I just deleted my MySpace.

Why? Because I hate MySpace.

A few days ago Ditsy & I were talking about how much we hated MySpace and it got me thinking…why the hell do I even have one when there isn’t a single feature I like, use or pay attention to? Especially when my first thought in even talking to her about it was, “Holy shit, Ditsy’s on my friends list?”

When an honest to god friend gets lost in a sea of…I don’t even know for sure what I’d call most of them, oh that’s right bands…it’s time to simplify, so I just deleted it.

So the next time someone asks “Hey what’s your MySpace?” they can give me the same look I get when people ask for my cell number. (Just wait for Sunny Vs. the iPhone. Oh the hilarity. :oD)

PS. Is it sad that I made the big version of that screencap my desktop background?

  1. [Note: I've no idea what manner of code works here, so I'm going to try hyper-text markup language and hope for the best.]

What I hate most about MySpace.com, Sunny, is the fact it’s owned by Rupert Murdoch. Any leftover hatred is directed at the fact that web site is “All hat and no cattle,” or “Heap big smoke but no fire.”

MySpace.com is set up for kids, it overflows with meaningless and useless “bells and whistles” resource-sapping crap; and the web-log part is relegated to side-show status. I should follow your example and quit the damned place!

Several of my on-line friends opened accounts there, then pestered me to join them; and I did. What’s odd is that they all had — and most of them still have — accounts at LiveJournal.com, but I suspect the Call Of Publicity drew them to MySpace.com; and I dutifully tagged along.

    :D

  2. I troll mine making smartass comments about how bulletins are stupid. Only reason I remember to check it is I get annoying ‘reminder’ e-mails if I get a message.

I’d delete mine, but, i like looking at pictures. :(

  4. At least Vox isn’t as buggy and the premade layouts are nowhere near as hideous. I made a test account over there when it first came out and my only real beef with it was that A) Their “write post” page wasn’t Safari-friendly and I’m too lazy to use two browsers and B) The feature they have to add links & images directly from Amazon is a handy little bugger, there was no easy way to combine that with my Amazon Affiliates link and if I’m liking to Amazon, I want to 5 cents or whatever it is I make if someone actually buys whatever it is I’m linking to haha

So that’s why I’m not a huge fan of Vox, personally. Well, that and I have a whole site…so there’s really no point in me having anything other than LJ.

  6. Sadly with no friends whatsoever, I noticed your missing from my myspace list immeadiately. I use it to play a song I like three or four times a month. And my dogs need a place to show off too,so I keep mine.
